James Sully

After qualification James worked for the band Massive Attack and their own record label, ‘Melankolic’. He then joined Harbottle and Lewis, becoming a partner and head of their music group in 2004.

James specialises in entertainment law and a range of entertainment related matters for artists, songwriters, celebrities managers, sportsmen and independent record and publishing companies. He also represents mobile phone companies, producers, video and TV production companies and concert promoters.

James represents a broad spectrum of the music industry, including recording artists such as Leona Lewis, Dizzee Rascal, David Gray, Eric Prydz and Imogen Heap. James has recently concluded the management agreements of the Kaiser Chiefs, Franz Ferdinand, Sandy Thom and Soulwax.

James has also recently advised a major mobile phone company on its music rights issues. He has a particular expertise in the staging of live events having worked on the Prince’s Trust’s Fashion Rocks and Urban Music Festivals.
